The black lagoon and the others of this Osogoche sector, contain a mystery which until today nobody was able to clarify. The natives tell that every year small birds (Cubibig) throw itselves voluntarily into the lagoons and die in the cold waters.

The communities’ inhabitants of the region consider that it is an offering on behalf of birds in the sacred lagoons.

We also tell that the Atahualpa treasure would be immersed in the fine bottom of the black lagoon to hide it from Spanish.
